NOWPayments is a non-custodial crypto payment gateway for businesses accepting Bitcoin, stablecoins and other digital assets. The platform states that it supports more than 350 cryptocurrencies and 75 fiat currencies, with checkout, invoicing, subscriptions, conversions and payouts available through one account.
How it works
Merchants can connect payment tools through APIs, SDKs, plugins and other integrations. Checkout and crypto invoices let a business request payment in a supported asset, while auto-conversion can change received cryptocurrency into another asset or fiat currency. The platform also offers payment processing for fiat-to-crypto and crypto-to-fiat flows.
Recurring billing is available through NOWPayments Subscriptions. Its payout tools support payments to multiple recipients, including email-based payouts that avoid collecting a wallet address from every recipient. The company reported average mass payout processing of 1–3 minutes in October 2026 and email payout delivery in under one second.
Fees and settlement
Standard payment acceptance starts at 1% per transaction, excluding blockchain network fees. Multi-currency deposits cost 1.5%, while single-currency deposits cost 1%. Partner rates can reach 0.3%, and enterprise pricing is available on request. Settlement can involve crypto or fiat processing, depending on the selected workflow and asset.
Security and business controls
Account controls include two-factor authentication, role-based access, withdrawal whitelisting, transaction monitoring and anti-fraud measures. The platform supports more than 100 crypto wallets and lets businesses manage payment history and payout workflows from an account dashboard.
Track record and risks
NOWPayments began operating in 2019. Its website reports more than $10 billion processed since launch, over 30 million finished transactions per month and more than 10,000 new partners per month. In September 2026, it reported year-on-year increases of 103.8% in successful integrations and 92% in partners completing a first transaction.
The main trade-offs are the 1% starting fee plus network charges, exposure to exchange-rate movement before conversion, and reliance on the gateway for payment processing and payout operations. Crypto payments are generally irreversible, so an incorrect address or amount can be difficult to recover. A provider outage or shutdown could interrupt checkout or settlement.
