Crypto.com Pay is a merchant payment gateway developed by Singapore-headquartered digital asset platform Crypto.com. The service lets online stores, physical retailers, and enterprise partners accept digital assets with settlement completed in seconds, processing over $300M annually across more than 4,000 active merchant partners.
Company background and backing
Crypto.com was founded in 2016 under the name Monaco by Kris Marszalek, Rafael Melo, Bobby Bao, and Gary Or. Chief Executive Officer Kris Marszalek previously led e-commerce platform Ensogo and founded BEECRAZY, while Chief Financial Officer Rafael Melo was a senior finance executive. The business is operated under the Malta-registered holding company Foris DAX MT Limited and Singapore entity Foris DAX Asia. The company employs over 5,000 staff globally. In July 2026, market maker Citadel Securities completed a $400 million strategic investment into Crypto.com, bringing total disclosed funding to $427 million following an early 2017 public token sale.
Payment processing and checkout mechanics
Merchants deploy Crypto.com Pay through pre-built plugins for platforms like Shopify and WooCommerce, custom API integrations, or standalone invoicing. In-store payments run directly through the Crypto.com Merchant app without dedicated point-of-sale hardware. Buyers can pay using the Crypto.com App or external Web3 wallets across networks including Cronos and Ethereum. Transactions completed via the app settle instantly, while external wallet checkouts require standard on-chain confirmations and gas fees. Settlements are handled in crypto or converted directly into more than 20 fiat currencies, including USD, EUR, GBP, and AUD.
Fees and regulatory standing
Crypto.com Pay charges merchants a 0% processing fee for direct transactions. Customers paying via external non-custodial wallets cover standard network gas costs. The broader group holds regional operational licenses, including a Stored Value Facilities licence from the Central Bank of the UAE secured in May 2026.
Risks and operational trade-offs
Custodial settlement creates direct counterparty exposure to Crypto.com while payouts await transfer to external bank accounts. Because crypto transactions cannot be reversed on-chain, merchant operational errors require manual reconciliation. Advanced checkout features such as recurring billing are restricted strictly to customers paying through the native Crypto.com App.
