pump.fun
Solana memecoin launchpad and DEX with automated bonding curves and PumpSwap pools
What is pump.fun?
Pump.fun is a decentralized memecoin launchpad and trading protocol operating primarily on Solana, alongside Blast deployments. Tokens launch without upfront seed liquidity and trade along a predetermined bonding curve until hitting the target threshold to graduate into automated liquidity pools.
Team and funding
Pump.fun was founded in January 2024 by Noah Tweedale, Alon Cohen, and Dylan Kerler, based in the United Kingdom. In July 2025, the project completed a $1.3 billion token sale across public and private rounds to support ecosystem development. The platform launched an internal investment branch, Pump Fund, in January 2026 to back early-stage startups.
Trading mechanics and features
The platform operates non-custodially via on-chain smart contracts. Creators deploy tokens with no platform fee, paying only the base network account creation and transaction costs in SOL. While on the initial bonding curve, trades incur a 1.25% fee, split into a 0.95% protocol fee and a 0.30% creator fee. Once a token finishes its curve, it migrates automatically to a canonical PumpSwap pool for a 0.015 SOL migration fee. In October 2026, the exchange expanded beyond spot bonding curves by adding perpetual futures powered by Hyperliquid, supporting leverage up to 40x on BTC and 25x on ETH.
Fee structure
PumpSwap canonical pools use dynamic fees tiered by market capitalization. For SOL-denominated tokens with market caps under 420 SOL, trades incur a 1.25% total fee (0.93% protocol fee, 0.30% creator fee, and 0.02% LP fee). This rate scales down to 0.30% total fee for market caps exceeding 98,240 SOL, where the creator fee falls to 0.05%, the protocol fee settles at 0.05%, and the LP fee is fixed at 0.20%. Perpetual futures incur an additional builder fee of up to 0.10% per order.
Track record and risks
By January 2025, creators had launched over 6 million tokens on the platform. DEX trading volume topped $2 billion in the first quarter of 2026, generating $14.26 million in weekly on-chain protocol revenue by October 2026. The platform has faced significant regulatory and operational friction: users from the United Kingdom were banned in December 2024 following an FCA warning, an unregistered securities lawsuit was filed in the Southern District of New York in January 2025, and a leak of over 5,000 internal team messages in December 2025 triggered controversy over MEV practices. Traders face steep slippage risks, rapid price swings on thin long-tail pools, and geoblocking restrictions.

Our review
pump.fun provides instant, zero-cost token creation and deep meme liquidity on Solana, but traders face aggressive bonding curve fees alongside heavy slippage.
Launched in January 2024 by Noah Tweedale, Alon Cohen, and Dylan Kerler, pump.fun is an automated token launchpad and decentralized exchange running primarily on Solana. The platform replaces traditional presales and seeded liquidity pools with a bonding curve mechanism. Anyone can deploy a token without upfront platform creation fees, paying only the native Solana network costs. Once a token attracts enough buy pressure to reach full curve capitalization, it graduates to native PumpSwap canonical pools for a 0.015 SOL migration fee.
Trading on the bonding curve incurs a flat 1.25% fee, split into a 0.95% protocol fee and a 0.30% creator fee. Once a pair graduates to PumpSwap, fees follow a sliding tier based on market capitalization, scaling down to 0.30% for tokens valued above 98,240 SOL. The platform generated $14.26 million in weekly protocol revenue in October 2026 and cleared over $2 billion in volume in the first quarter of 2026. Beyond spot meme pairs, the exchange features perpetual futures contracts for Bitcoin and Ethereum powered by Hyperliquid, charging up to a 0.10% builder fee.
The platform presents distinct trade-offs:
- Instant, permissionless launches without initial pool seed requirements.
- Deep speculative liquidity for micro-cap meme assets and pre-IPO synthetic pairs.
- High initial trading fees of 1.25% alongside severe price impact on early curves.
- Regulatory and legal challenges, including a geoblock on United Kingdom users, a securities lawsuit in New York, and past platform MEV leaks.
pump.fun suits speculative on-chain traders chasing early-stage meme launches and creators who want fair-launch distribution. Users seeking low swap fees on established blue-chip tokens or traditional order-book features should choose standard decentralized exchanges like Raydium instead.

In their own words
“Best mobile setup for trading memes I’ve tried a few different setups but Pumpfun has been the one I keep coming back to on mobile. I usually check memes during lunch or when I’m out so I don’t want to open three different apps just to figure out what’s moving.”
“First thing I'd say is don't expect to make money without taking risks, especially with memes. Pump.fun has tools like Movers, holder data and trader callouts that can help you research coins, but none of that guarantees profits.”
“Officially quit using that app after yesterday. Got rugged trading a vamp coin(about 14k MC) while the real meme ran to 100k+. I’ve lost about 600 this week. Good luck to you man”
“App crashed when I went to sell up 2x and when it recovered I was down 99% lol. Has this happened to anyone else recently? This was the first time it happened to me and pretty frustrating.”
“before you join one, know the odds. coingecko checked every pump.fun trader through april 2026: for a year and a half, most lost money every single month, and out of \~13m wallets, fewer than 1 in 200 ever made $10k.”

Any token paired with SOL, USDC or one of the whitelisted mints from quote-control PDA are considered depth 0.
Last week we enabled the creation of depth 1 coins which meant new creations were allowed paired with any Pump token with depth 0.
Today we will be enabling the creation of depth 2 tokens which can be paired with depth 1 token.
This is not a breaking change, all trading interfaces remain the same, all quotes remain the same.
The only change is in the create v2 instruction where more accounts need to be passed to create depth 2 tokens. Please refer to this doc on how to do that…
Tomorrow we will be releasing new instructions and features on the pump and pump swap programs. All changes are non breaking if you had adapted to the virtual quote reserves being negative in the previous announcement.
What is new?
- New Pump coins can be paired with any previously created Pump coins that are paired with SOL, USDC or one of the mints in the quote control PDA.
- New v3 instructions in the pump program to reduce the number of accounts needed for trades.
- New v2 instructions in the pump swap program to reduce the number of accounts needed for trades.
- New multi hop instruction in the pump swap program to be able to trade multiple hops in a single…
