Company and ownership
AMINA Bank AG was founded in April 2018 in Zug, Switzerland, as SEBA Crypto AG and operated as SEBA Bank until it announced its rebrand to AMINA on December 1, 2023. Franz Bergmüller has been chief executive since April 2022, when he succeeded Guido Bühler. Sébastien Mérillat, one of the founders, chairs the board. The bank announced a CHF 100 million raise in September 2018 and a CHF 110 million Series C completed in January 2022.
Its May 2025 results release reported 2024 revenue of $40.4 million, up 69%, and assets under management of $4.2 billion, up 136%. The CET1 ratio stood at 34%. Beyond Zug, the group runs a branch in the Abu Dhabi Global Market (ADGM), AMINA (Hong Kong) Limited, AMINA (Austria) AG under the AMINA EU name, and an office in Mumbai.
Custody model and security
Hot wallet keys sit in hardware security modules (HSM) or multi-party computation (MPC) wallets, and any change to the system needs approval from three separate people. Cold storage is fully offline and air-gapped. Cold transactions need multi-party authorization with encrypted keys held on isolated systems, and each client gets a dedicated multisig wallet structure. In 2024 AMINA signed a multi-year agreement for Taurus-PROTECT v4, a custody platform built on physical HSMs.
Client crypto is segregated under Swiss federal law and held off AMINA's balance sheet. The enterprise custody page cites penetration testing and the ISAE 3000 and ISAE 3402 assurance standards, and a 2022 release described the hot and cold storage as ISAE 3402 certified. Cold custody covers 12 of the 32 listed assets, among them bitcoin, ether, USDC and USDT; the rest are held hot only.
Regulation and insurance
FINMA granted the bank a Swiss banking and securities dealer license in August 2019 and, in September 2021, a license to act as custodian bank for Swiss collective investment schemes under Article 72 of the Collective Investment Schemes Act (CISA). The ADGM branch holds FSRA Financial Services Permission 210043, effective February 7, 2022, for advising, arranging deals, arranging custody and arranging credit, but it may not deal with retail clients or hold client assets. AMINA (Hong Kong) Limited received SFC Type 1, 4 and 9 licenses in November 2023, and its Type 1 license was extended to virtual asset dealing for professional investors in October 2025. AMINA (Austria) AG holds a MiCA crypto-asset service provider authorization from Austria's FMA dated October 29, 2025; ESMA's register lists custody, exchange, portfolio management and transfer services and 30 EEA countries.
Hot wallets carry professional indemnity and cyber insurance, and cold wallets add specie cover.
Products and integrations
The asset list runs to 32 tokens, 31 of them tradable, from bitcoin and ether to newer additions such as Canton Coin in May 2026 and HYPE on HyperEVM in August 2026. Stablecoins on the list include USDC, USDT, RLUSD, USDG and EURC. Seven assets can be staked, among them ether, Solana, Cardano and Polygon's POL, with validators chosen by AMINA through staking providers and rewards booked monthly. One API covers banking, payments, custody, trading and staking. Off-exchange custody lets corporates keep exchange collateral at AMINA in a bankruptcy-remote, off-balance-sheet structure while trading continues on the exchange. In March 2026 AMINA joined 21X, a BaFin-licensed DLT trading and settlement venue, as a listing sponsor. Other banks use it as a back end: LGT Bank in Liechtenstein chose SEBA for custody and brokerage in 2022, and St.Galler Kantonalbank followed in 2023.
