Ankr is a Web3 infrastructure provider operating a distributed remote procedure call (RPC) network, scaling services, and multichain staking protocols across more than 70 blockchains. Its bare-metal node architecture handles approximately 8 billion daily RPC queries across 30 global regions, maintaining an average response time of 56 milliseconds and 99.99% uptime.
Founding and backing
Ankr was founded in 2017. The project secured early capital through seed and private token sales in 2017 and 2018, raising $15 million and $12 million from investors including Pantera Capital, Bixin Ventures, DHVC, and NGC Ventures. In August 2022, Binance Labs made a strategic investment in the protocol to expand its RPC endpoints and scaling suites.
Core services and developer access
The platform provides public, premium, and enterprise-grade RPC endpoints through its Web3 API, alongside an Advanced API that supports simultaneous queries across 19 mainnet and 7 testnet chains via JavaScript and Python SDKs. Beyond node routing, Ankr provides rollup and sidechain engineering, alongside delegated and liquid staking contracts across nine tokens, including Ethereum, BNB, Avalanche, and Polkadot. In October 2026, Ankr introduced its x402 service on Monad. Autonomous AI agents can query blockchain data through the service and pay per request in USDC without manual account registration or static API keys.
Pricing and resource tiers
Developers can access public RPC lanes for free or subscribe to a Freemium tier providing 200 million API credits each month. Paid monthly plans range from 500 to 3,000 USD, delivering 20% more API credits than pay-as-you-go pricing, with credits pegged to the US dollar and expiring every 30 days. Custom infrastructure solutions are negotiated under enterprise agreements.
Security track record and operational risks
Ankr's staking contracts have undergone third-party audits by Beosin in 2022 and Veridise in 2023. However, the protocol has experienced significant security breaches. In December 2022, a former team member compromised the deployer private key through supply-chain vulnerabilities, minting trillions of unauthorized aBNBc tokens and collapsing the token's market price. In August 2026, an exploit involving the ankrFLOW smart contract resulted in an estimated $9.3 million loss from the external More Markets protocol.
