What is NGRAVE?

NGRAVE ZERO is a hardware wallet created by Belgian security firm NGRAVE, founded in 2018. It signs transactions through QR codes while remaining fully air-gapped without USB, Bluetooth or Wi-Fi. The device features EAL7 security certification, a 4-inch touchscreen and biometric authentication.

Products and company

NGRAVE manufactures ZERO alongside the GRAPHENE backup and the LIQUID mobile app. GRAPHENE is an encrypted, recoverable stainless-steel plate set that stores wallet keys across separate upper and lower sections. LIQUID manages crypto and NFTs without exposing keys, communicating with ZERO via QR codes. All products are manufactured in Belgium, where the company is based.

How ZERO works

The device generates and stores keys entirely offline. NGRAVE OS uses a custom security architecture with secure boot and hardware cryptography, and biometric checks protect access. ZERO can display a 256-bit key either as NGRAVE's hexadecimal Perfect Key or as a 24-word mnemonic. Because transactions transfer between LIQUID and ZERO exclusively through two-way QR scanning, the signing device never connects to a network.

Supported assets include Bitcoin, Bitcoin Cash, Ethereum, Dash, Zcash, Litecoin, BNB, XRP, Dogecoin, Tezos, MultiversX, Groestlcoin, Solana, Stellar, Polygon and Avalanche. The wallet also handles Ethereum ERC-20 tokens, MultiversX ESDT tokens and Ethereum NFTs. MetaMask and Rabby integrations permit connections to EVM-based chains through third-party interfaces.

Prices and availability

ZERO sells for $398. GRAPHENE costs $148 on its own, and the ZERO and GRAPHENE Combo Pack is available for $498. Orders ship from the NGRAVE Store, Amazon US and authorized resellers. NGRAVE offers free next-day shipping on orders over $300, supports credit card, crypto and Bancontact payments, and accepts returns within 30 days.

Track record and risks

NGRAVE released firmware 1.8. The release introduced the open Universal QR Protocol, faster optical scanning, Polygon token support and updated fingerprint handling. LIQUID entered maintenance on October 18, 2026, while the firm secured its backend, temporarily preventing portfolio syncing. This maintenance followed an alert on October 17, 2026, concerning fake LIQUID notifications that attempted to phish recovery phrases and Perfect Keys, prompting NGRAVE to advise anyone who submitted credentials to transfer their funds immediately to a fresh address.

ZERO's air-gapped architecture isolates keys from network vulnerabilities, though the setup requires manual QR code exchanges and relies on LIQUID for portfolio management. Adding the GRAPHENE steel backup also requires an additional purchase.

Our review

3.7/5
Good

NGRAVE ZERO offers unusually strong offline protection and recovery design, but its premium price, limited native asset coverage and current LIQUID disruption reduce its convenience.

NGRAVE ZERO is a hardware wallet built around offline signing. Its clearest security advantage is the fully air-gapped design: ZERO has no USB, Bluetooth or Wi-Fi and communicates with LIQUID through QR codes. Its secure element uses an STM32MP157C processor with hardware cryptography and secure boot.

GRAPHENE stores the key on separate stainless-steel plates, and the NGRAVE Perfect Key can be represented as either 64 hexadecimal characters or 24 words. That avoids relying only on a paper seed, but it adds a second product and another process to manage. The device supports 16 named networks, including Bitcoin, Ethereum, Solana, Polygon and Avalanche, plus Ethereum ERC-20, MultiversX ESDT tokens and Ethereum NFTs. That is useful coverage, though native support is narrower than the thousands of assets claimed by some competing hardware wallets. Rabby and MetaMask integrations extend access to EVM chains.

The main weaknesses are cost and dependence on the companion app. ZERO costs $398, GRAPHENE costs $148 separately, and the combo costs $498. LIQUID is currently under maintenance, so syncing may not work, while support responses are slower because of a ticket backlog. The recent fake LIQUID notifications and seed-stealing pages also show a practical phishing risk around the software layer, even though keys remain offline on ZERO. Anyone who entered a seed phrase or Perfect Key into the fake page is told to move funds to a new wallet.

NGRAVE is a Belgian company founded in 2018 and remains active, selling through its store and Amazon US. The product suits long-term self-custody holders who prioritise air-gapped signing and a large screen. It also includes a durable recovery backup.

“Remained unresponsive. There’s probably a lesson to be learned there to ensure the bootloader portion always gets overwritten so it would boot though boot what as the main OS/firmware fails to write. I had activated a ledger nano and I dislike them so much.”

When regulators want billions protected, they ask for one thing: keep more of it offline.

That standard works for your stack too. ❄️

October was a lot.

If you're rethinking about where your crypto lives, start simple: keys generated offline, signing on a screen you can verify, nothing connected to the internet ever.

That's self-custody.
That's what the ZERO was built for. ❄️
