What is Zengo?

Zengo is a self-custodial mobile crypto wallet built around multi-party computation (MPC) rather than a traditional seed phrase. Its 3-Factor Recovery system combines email and cloud backup with 3D FaceLock biometrics. Zengo says it secures more than $20B in digital assets and has completed seven security audits.

How the wallet works

The wallet runs on iOS and Android. MPC splits signing authority into two key shares, so neither share signs a transaction alone. The setup removes the need to write down a seed phrase. Recovery uses a Recovery Kit containing an email address and a Recovery File stored in the user's cloud account.

Zengo supports 14+ blockchains and provides token storage, sending, receiving, swaps, staking, on- and off-ramp access, and decentralised application access. Recent additions include Arc, where USDC can pay its own network fees, and Robinhood Chain, which supports stock tokens and crypto inside the wallet.

Fees and transaction times

Zengo charges no wallet fee for sending, receiving or storing crypto. Swaps carry an exchange fee of up to 4%, plus liquidity fees that vary by coin pair. Blockchain network fees apply separately and go to the network rather than Zengo. Supported ERC-20 token transactions require ETH for Ethereum network fees.

Swaps usually take 5 to 30 minutes, although the asset pair and market conditions can extend processing time.

Availability and security

Zengo's recovery design reduces seed-phrase phishing risk, but it depends on the recovery email and cloud backup, as well as the biometric process.

Transactions still face ordinary software-wallet risks, including phishing and malicious decentralised applications. Incorrect addresses are another risk. Swap fees can also raise the total cost above the quoted exchange rate, while network fees remain separate.

Track record

Zengo reports more than $20B in digital assets secured. Its current product includes swaps, staking, ramps and decentralised application access, with Arc and Robinhood Chain support announced in October 2026.
