Changelly is a non-custodial cryptocurrency swap service launched in 2015. It routes fixed-rate and floating-rate transactions through liquidity partners and supports more than 1,000 digital assets across 185+ blockchains. The platform also offers fiat on-ramps, off-ramps, developer tools and Changelly PRO, a separate trading platform.
Company and products
Changelly's parent company is Marella. The platform reports 12M+ registered users as of April 2026 and 2.6M+ monthly active users in October 2026. Its products include Instant Swap, fiat purchasing and selling through payment processors, and developer tools such as a white-label API and widgets. Changelly PRO has spot and futures order books.
How the exchange works
Users select a trading pair, enter the destination wallet address and send the asset to the deposit address shown by Changelly. The exchanged coins are then sent to the user’s wallet, rather than held in a platform account. Typical transaction times are 5–40 minutes, although blockchain congestion can delay settlement.
Rates can be fixed or floating. The service connects to centralized and decentralized liquidity partners, while wallets, aggregators and dApps can embed its exchange functions through the API. Supported fiat payment methods include Visa, Mastercard, bank transfer, SEPA transfers and Apple Pay. Changelly lists partnerships with wallets including Exodus, Ledger and Trezor.
Fees and verification
Floating-rate instant swaps carry a 0.25% service fee. Changelly PRO Starter accounts charge 0.1% maker and 0.1% taker for spot trading. Businesses using the API can add a fee ranging from 0.1% to 5% per transaction.
Most crypto swaps do not require KYC at the start, but AML risk checks can trigger a review or hold. Changelly describes basic KYC limits of up to 10,000 EUR per 48 hours in many cases; higher-volume activity can require additional identification and a face-to-face call.
Track record and risks
Changelly marked its 11th anniversary in April 2026 and reported a partner network of 840 Web3 companies. A review found no reported hack of Changelly since its 2015 launch, but the platform has no formal license from major financial bodies and does not offer deposit insurance or proof of reserves. Desktop accounts offer 2FA, while the mobile app lacks 2FA. Users also face risks involving wallet addresses and network selection, third-party fiat gateway fees, and possible AML-related withdrawal holds.
