SimpleSwap is a non-custodial cryptocurrency swap aggregator that connects to over 20 centralized and decentralized liquidity venues. Launched in April 2018, the service enables wallet-to-wallet trades across more than 2,800 cryptocurrencies and 3.2 million trading pairs without requiring users to register an account or deposit funds into an exchange balance.
How the platform works
Unlike standard centralized exchanges that manage order books and retain user balances, SimpleSwap processes transactions directly between private wallets. A user selects an asset pair, chooses between a floating market rate and a guaranteed fixed rate, and enters a receiving address. After sending the deposit to a generated address, SimpleSwap sources liquidity across connected partners and delivers the converted coins directly to the destination wallet. SimpleSwap supports major networks including Bitcoin, Ethereum, Solana, Monero, Tron, BNB Chain, and TON, and operates on web browsers alongside native mobile apps for iOS and Android.
Pricing and fiat access
Crypto-to-crypto swaps include network transaction costs and partner exchange margins within the displayed rate, with no separate maker or taker fee structure. The fixed-rate option eliminates slippage risk by locking the exchange rate for the duration of the deposit window, while the floating rate calculates the final amount based on real-time execution. Fiat-to-crypto purchases operate under the SimpleBuy service. Through this feature, users can buy over 30 cryptocurrencies using credit or debit cards through external payment processors.
Compliance, KYC, and security history
Basic crypto swaps do not require account registration or upfront identification. However, SimpleSwap uses automated risk-scoring systems under its AML/KYC policies that can flag suspicious deposits, temporarily freezing the transaction until the sender submits identity verification documents. SimpleSwap has actively intercepted criminal fund transfers: in December 2021, the platform halted and froze roughly $250,000 in VeChain tied to the BitMart exchange breach, and in February 2023, it intercepted 300,000 ALGO and 200,000 USDC sent by exploiters of the MyAlgo wallet, returning the assets to the affected parties.
Limitations and risks
The primary trade-off is the cost spread built into quoted conversion rates, which can run higher than dedicated spot order books on custodial exchanges. Because SimpleSwap routes transactions through third-party venues, unexpected volatility or network congestion can delay execution or trigger automated compliance freezes on unverified transfers. The platform also does not offer order-book trading or derivative contracts.
