About EMURGO

Founded in 2017 by Chief Executive Officer Ken Kodama, EMURGO operates as the official commercial arm and co-founding entity of the Cardano blockchain. Headquartered in Singapore, the organization advances commercial adoption through venture capital, enterprise solutions, and internal product engineering. In September 2021, EMURGO established a $100 million ecosystem investment fund split between two dedicated vehicles: EMURGO Ventures, which focuses on Web3 infrastructure and middleware, and EMURGO Africa, which funds regional seed-stage founders.

Its investment strategy prioritizes early-stage and growth-stage companies building on Cardano or developing cross-chain infrastructure. Notable investments include data indexing protocol SubQuery and automated payment platform OAK, both backed in November 2022. EMURGO also completed a strategic round in March 2024 for multichain NFT and tokenization infrastructure NMKR.

Alongside direct venture investments, EMURGO developed the Yoroi light wallet and tokenization platforms. In mid-2026, the firm underwent significant operational restructuring following a security incident affecting its SecondFi project. By July 2026, EMURGO stepped back from governance bodies, resigning from the Intersect MBO board and withdrawing as a Cardano DRep. In September 2026, the firm transferred operational control of its stake pools to Murasaki while focusing internal resources on user asset recovery.

Operational control of the pools has been transferred to @MurasakiCardano. EMURGO's DRep de-registration is proceeding as announced. Pool questions now sit with Murasaki; @secondfiapp recovery updates continue on our usual channels.

An update on the EMURGO and @YoroiWallet stake pools:

As referenced in our previous posts regarding EMURGO’s withdrawal from Cardano governance, including our decision to step back following the SecondFi security incident and our intention to de-register as a Cardano DRep, we are making a few operational updates.

Operational control of the EMURGO and Yoroi stake pools (EMURGO 1, EMURGO 2, EMURGO 3, EMURGO 4, EMURGO 5, EMURGO 6 and YOROI) has been transferred to Shunsuke Murasaki (@MurasakiCardano). Many in the community will know Murasaki as a long-time member of the Cardano community, with especially strong ties in Japan, Indonesia, and Singapore, as well as an early employee at EMURGO before leaving earlier this year to pursue new adventures. We have full faith in his integrity to Cardano over the long term.

These updates have been processed operationally and will be formally reflected onchain in coming days.

Key details for delegators:
- No action required: Delegations and staking rewards continue uninterrupted, and existing delegations carry over automatically.
- Unchanged pool IDs: Pool IDs remain identical. Murasaki will share a separate confirmation regarding any upcoming changes to the pool names and tickers.
- Non-custodial staking: As always, staking on Cardano remains entirely non-custodial, leaving delegators free to re-delegate to any pool whenever they choose.

EMURGO & Yoroi DRep Update: Upcoming Changes to Our DReps

As we continue to support affected users of the @secondfiapp security incident and make further progress towards the recovery phase, we want to give notice of two governance decisions: our immediate resignation from the @IntersectMBO board and our intention to de-register our DRep role in Cardano governance in due course.

Both decisions reflect our focus on directing our full attention and resources toward the recovery effort and ensuring affected users are properly supported through this process. We recognize that our seat on the Intersect board and our DRep role each represent meaningful responsibilities within the Cardano governance ecosystem and we do not take the decision to step back from either lightly.

When you migrate your wallet, it will be automatically undelegated from both your stake pool and your DRep. You will then be free to choose a new DRep that best represents you.

We will share full guidance, including timing, as the migration tool launches.

Following the recent SecondFi incident, we have confirmed that our priority right now must be solely the recovery of assets for all affected users.

Together with our colleagues at @IntersectMBO and the @Cardano_CF, we have agreed that the best way to ensure a successful Token2049 event for the community is for the Cardano Foundation to take responsibility for delivering the agreed plans.

As one of the most experienced events teams in the ecosystem, with a strong track record in consistently delivering similar scale events, we are happy to confirm that the Cardano Foundation events team has agreed to step in and take the lead on facilitating the activation. Our local team is available to provide on-the-ground support.

We are grateful that the Cardano Foundation has graciously accepted this responsibility.
